Paul Stephens: Lesson Policies

Tuition:

~ 45-minute lesson-- $30 per lesson , once per week
according to the Studio Calendar.
~ 60-minute lesson-- $40 per lesson , once per week
according to the Studio Calendar.
~ Payment for the month is due at the first lesson of that month.
~
~ A 5% Discount applies to 16 or more lessons that are paid in full no
later than ten days after the beginning of the semester. In cases of
withdrawal before the end of the semester, the discount will not apply.
~ A $10 late payment fee is added to accounts not paid by the 15th
day of the month. Returned check fee is $30.
~ The cost of music will be in addition to the lesson fees. However,
certain sight reading books and CD's may be loaned at no charge
with a $10 refundable deposit.

Make-ups:

~ If the teacher is given at least twenty-four hours notice that a
student will be absent, the teacher will try to arrange a make-up
lesson. If the make-up lesson cannot be scheduled within two weeks
of the missed lesson, then one lesson will be added to the end of the
second semester. This make-up will be scheduled at the convenience
of both the student and the teacher. There is a maximum of seven
make-up lessons per school year.
~ If the student is ill, please have him stay home in consideration of
others.
~ If the teacher must cancel a lesson, it will be made up at a time that
is convenient to all parties or credited to the following month's tuition.
~ Enrolling for lessons is a purchase of teacher and studio time,
prepared to be free from interruptions and distractions. Since the time
passes whether a student uses it or not, a lesson missed is time lost.
~ Notification of missing a lesson is appreciated, but it does not
subtract from the payment of lessons.
~A student may arrange lesson swaps with another student without
having it count toward the maximum of seven make-up lessons per
school year.

Withdrawal:

A student who wishes to withdraw must give the teacher a minimum of
a week's written notice. If all tuition payments are up to date and the
one-week notice of withdrawal has been received, the student will
receive a refund if any is due. Partial refunds of a semester will result
in the loss of any discount.

Attending the Lesson:

~ Please knock on the door and then come in. (There is no need to
wait for the teacher to come to the door.) Please remove your shoes
and come downstairs into the teaching studio. Sit quietly and wait for
your lesson time. Unless younger siblings can sit quietly, please do
not bring them to the lesson.

~ Any student of either Mr. Stephens or Dr. Saffir is invited to
observe the lesson of any other student as long as the student being
observed agrees. Friends of students and parents may also observe
lessons at any time. This can be an excellent educational opportunity.
